Born in Alexandria, Virginia, Kayton's professional background spans construction, development and service-business ownership.

His experience operating businesses gave him a firsthand understanding of a challenge familiar to many owners: as a company grows, staying accessible to every customer becomes increasingly difficult.

Teams are focused on customers, projects, employees, schedules and the day-to-day demands of running the operation. Meanwhile, the phone keeps ringing.

For Kayton, that challenge wasn't theoretical. There were times when calls simply couldn't be answered. Some went to voicemail. Some callers never left one. And behind any of those calls could be an existing customer needing assistance or a new customer ready to do business.

Hiring a dedicated front-desk employee seemed like the obvious solution, but the fixed cost of another full-time position wasn't always practical for a smaller operation—particularly when call volume changed throughout the year.

Outsourced answering services provided an alternative, but they came with their own limitations. The experience could feel disconnected from the local business and community, while rigid monthly packages didn't always reflect the seasonal and unpredictable nature of service businesses.

Those experiences ultimately led to Bridge.

From Experience to Bridge

Kayton founded Bridge around the solution he had wanted as a business owner: a front office that could remain responsive without requiring the overhead of a traditional front desk or forcing a business into a rigid, one-size-fits-all system.

That experience continues to influence Bridge's approach today.

It's a practical philosophy shaped by having experienced the problem from the other side.
